Freely located 1930s terraced house with a spacious backyard of 30 metres deep!
At the front unobstructed view over open water and at the back a large backyard of 30 metres deep with no rear neighbours... And all this at a mere stone's throw from Amsterdam. What a unique place to call home!
Located on the quiet Havenstraat - with a beautiful unobstructed view over the canal and the boats and ships sailing by - we may offer this 1930s terraced house. The house has been maintained with great care (and taste!), resulting in an ideal balance of modern and authentic. We see all kinds of authentic details such as stained-glass windows, high beamed ceilings, a bay window, suite sliding doors (again with stained glass) and a wooden floor. But we also see a modern kitchen with an AGA six four stove, a luxurious bathroom with a rain shower and a very neat overall finish! Ideal for those that are looking for a real 1930s look & feel, but are not much of a handyman themselves!
What a lovely property... And we haven’t even mentioned its biggest selling point yet: the garden and the location on open water! The garden is 30 meters deep and beautifully landscaped with a playful variety of terraces and greenery. A true private oasis!
At the front, the house is located on open waterways, directly connected to the North Sea Canal. Here you can sail away freely, without depending on bridges and/or locks. You overlook your own jetty (precario € 71,76 per year) and you have the possibility to moor a boat.
We can't get around it: this is simply a gorgeous home on a unique location! Will you be the lucky new owner of this spot? Then get in touch with us soon!
About the location and neighbourhood: At the front, the property enjoys unobstructed views over the Zijkanaal G canal and at the back, it borders on a green strip. Despite this free location surrounded by water and greenery, you live here in a super central location on the edge of the Havenbuurt neighborhood, close to all daily amenities. The nearest bus stop is just a few steps away and you can also reach the arterial roads (A8, A10) very quickly by car.
The nearest primary school - which also has a large playground – is located at 5 minutes' walking distance and Zaandam's secondary schools are easily accessible by bike. From the house, you cycle in 5-10 minutes to the centre with all your daily amenities as well as the railway station with good connections to Amsterdam, among other places. But Amsterdam is even so close that it is also easy to reach by (electric) bike or scooter.
Layout of the property: Ground floor: Through the front yard with space for a garden bench in the morning sun, we reach the front door of the house.
Behind the front door, we find the entrance hall with wardrobe, staircase to the first floor, guest toilet with hand basin and access to the bright living room.
The living room has a real 1930s look with e.g. a high beamed ceiling (2.80 metres high), a bay window with stained-glass windows, a rustic wooden floor and en suite sliding doors (again with stained-glass windows) that separate the closed kitchen from the living room.
The closed living kitchen/dining room is located on the garden side of the house. The straight-line kitchen (Keukenloods) has a sleek design and is equipped with an AGA six four gas stove, oven, fridge, freezer and a Miele dishwasher. Patio doors offer access to the garden and again, we see beautiful stained-glass elements in these doors.
Through an open arch in the kitchen, there is access to the handy utility room, where you will find the connections for the white goods set-up and an additional back door to the garden.
First floor: Via the staircase in the hallway, we reach the landing of the first floor. On this floor, we find 2 bedrooms, an office and the bathroom.
All rooms have wooden floors and are nicely finished with tight walls and ceilings.
The luxurious bathroom features recessed spotlights, a washbasin with vanity unit and a walk-in rain shower. Next to the bathroom is a separate toilet.
Second floor: Via the fixed staircase on the first floor, we reach the spacious second floor with a large, open attic room. The addition of no less than 2 dormers makes this space to be very suitable as a bedroom and there is also plenty of storage space behind knee walls here.
Garden: The deep west-facing back garden features several terraces, green borders and trees. At the back of the garden, there is a large wooden shed which is equipped with electricity. As the house has no rear neighbours but borders on a green strip, it is optimally private. Via an alley next to the house, there is also a back entrance.
Parking: There is parking space around the house.
