About the location and the neighbourhood:
This house is located in one of the oldest streets of Zaandam and has a beautiful view of the oldest lock in town. Rightly so a unique location!

The Hanenpad is a quiet, dead end street on tbe opposite of a waterway in the cozy Burgemeestersbuurt. The house has a central location with primary schools within walking distance and secondary schools within cycling distance. The vibrant centre of Zaandam with a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants can be reached within a few minutes by bike. The station is located at the edge of the centre and from there the train takes you in just 12 minutes to Amsterdam Central Station, in 20 minutes to Schiphol Airport and in less than half an hour to Alkmaar and Hoorn. By car, too, you'll be on the A7, A8 or A10 within no time. Amsterdam is so closeby, that you can also reach it easily by (electric) bike or scooter.

Layout of the house:
Ground floor:
Through the beautiful front garden with espaliered trees offering privacy, we come along a small staircase to the front door of the house.

Behind the front door we find the elegant entrance hall with cloakroom, meter closet, guest toilet with hand basin, staircase to the first floor, a handy pantry under the stairs and access to the spacious living room with open kitchen.

The living room has a real '30s look and features a beautiful bay window with stained glass at the front of the house. A real eye-catcher! Through half-open passages, the living room is divided into several, cosy living units that remain connected through vistas.

In the middle of the living room (between the living room and dining room / kitchen) we are again surprised by beautiful (and very handy!) built-in cupboards with stained glass doors. A nicer way of creating extra storage space, we have not yet come across!
The L-shaped, neatly finished kitchen (Ikea) is located at the garden side of the house and provides the home cook with all the luxury: a gas stove, oven, fridge, freezer and a dishwasher.

The ground floor has a laminate floor and the overall finish is excellent.

First floor:
Through the staircase in the hall, we reach the landing of the first floor. On this floor we find 2 bedrooms, 1 at the rear of the house and 1 at the front. The nicely finished bedrooms have laminate flooring and both bedrooms have convenient built-in wardrobes. The bedroom at the front has a beautiful balcony (location: southeast) overlooking the street and the “Hanenpad” lock.

On this floor we also find a handy and very spacious laundry room (which also could serve well as storage room / walk-in closet), a second toilet and the very luxurious bathroom with recessed spotlights, washbasin with double faucet and vanity unit and a walk-in shower.

Second floor:
Through the staircase on the first floor, we reach the spacious second floor. The very spacious second floor is currently 1 large (bed)room. From this room there is access to a spacious roof terrace (location: northwest) where there is enough space for a large lounge sofa. An ideal place for your (older) child or teenager (or just for yourself!) to create a private oasis!

Garden:
